| Breaking News |  | Monday, August 21st, 1967: Wolverines Lose McDowell for 7 Weeks
A blow for Sam McDowell today -- team doctors confirmed he will miss 7 weeks with a herniated disc. McDowell suffered the injury throwing a pitch. Although officials from the Detroit Wolverines are confident he'll make a full recovery, doubts will persist about McDowell's ability to return fully fit with an injury of this nature.
This year McDowell has worked 95 innings with 79 strikeouts en route to a 5-4 record and 2.08 ERA. |

The most recent recipient of the Antiquity League Player of the Week Award is first baseman Orlando Cepeda of Los Angeles.
Cepeda showed great patience at the plate, collecting 12 hits in 25 at-bats as he compiled a .480 average, 5 home runs, 10 RBIs and 7 runs scored.
During the current season Cepeda is batting at a .294 clip with 31 home runs and 72 RBIs. He has played in 119 games and scored 70 times. |
