Friday, July 31st, 1964: Chicago Orphans Deal Peters to Havana
The rumor has been going on for a while now, but today it was made official. The Chicago Orphans sent 27-year old starting pitcher Gary Peters to the Havana Lefties for 22-year old left fielder Art Shamsky, 27-year old minor league reliever Duane Richards and a 4th round draft pick.

Officials from both teams seem to be pleased with the deal.

In 1964 Peters has compiled a 3-9 record with a 3.80 ERA in 18 starts.
