Antiquity League News Article | | | Sunday, August 2nd, 1964: 5-5 Day for Brandt! If the Chicago Orphans know how best to pitch the Minnesota right fielder Jackie Brandt they didn't tip their hand today. Instead Brandt showed he knew how best to hit them as he easily handled Orphans pitching, going 5 for 5 and helping the Empire Builders to a 10-5 triumph at Empire Builders Stadium.
He told SION reporters in the postgame interview, "The way I was swinging today, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball."
The Chicago skipper quipped, "Well, the next time we may just do that...blindfold him...and then pitch him differently, just to be sure."
J. Brandt singled in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off S. Siebert in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
Batting .321 to date, Brandt has 5 home runs and 48 RBIs. | |
