 | Friday, October 21st, 1966: Big Switch: Jenkins for Morgan The Houston Colt .45s and Denver Rams have finalized a huge trade involving 23-year old starting pitcher Fergie Jenkins, 26-year old first baseman Willie Stargell, 23-year old second baseman Felix Millan and a 1st round draft pick for the Colt .45s and 23-year old second baseman Joe Morgan, 31-year old first baseman Norm Cash and 21-year old minor league starting pitcher Joe Niekro for the Rams. "Deals like this are hard to get settled," confessed the Houston GM. "you have so many issues that could become deal-breakers." This year Jenkins has made 33 starts, thrown 265.1 innings, fanned 188 batters and walked 91. His won-lost record is 13-14 with a 3.02 ERA. So far this season Morgan is batting .332 with 19 home runs. |
