Monday, July 30th, 1962: Antiquity League Awards Best Batter Prize
All week long Ken Boyer was the toughest out in the Antiquity League and that is the prime reason he was voted the Player of the Week.

The Baltimore third baseman rapped out 13 hits in 27 at-bats for a .481 batting average, drove in 11 runs and scored 10 times.

This season-to-date Boyer has 14 home runs and a .298 batting average.
Wednesday, July 25th, 1962: Boyer Pounds 3 HR!
What did Ken Boyer eat for breakfast prior to his game against Los Angeles?

Whatever it was, it provided some surprising power as the Baltimore third baseman smacked three balls up and out of the park at Memorial Stadium. His power surge sparked the Huns to a 8-6 victory over the Bums.

He told SION reporters, "When they throw it in your wheelhouse, you got a shot at a homer. I got three shots today and nailed them all."

On his 3-home run day he went 4 for 5, scored 3 times, drove in 6 and put his name in the league record book.

K. Boyer flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off L. Sherry in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off B. Smith in the 8th, walked in the 10th and hit a two-run home run off B. Muffett in the 12th.

So far this season Boyer has hit .293 with 14 home runs, 44 RBIs and and scored 49 times.
Tuesday, July 24th, 1962: Baltimore Loses Jim Maloney
Medical officials from the Baltimore Huns reported that the club's 22-year-old starting pitcher, Jim Maloney, suffered a herniated disc in yesterday's matchup against the Los Angeles Bums while throwing a pitch. Maloney is expected to miss 2 months of action.

On his 1962 stats sheet Maloney shows a 9-7 record, 20 starts, 133.1 innings, 126 strikeouts and a 4.25 ERA.
