Saturday, August 12th, 1967: McCarver Out 2 Months with Injury
The Rams received bad news this morning. Tim McCarver will miss 2 months due to a torn calf muscle. In the Denver-Cleveland game he sustained the injury while running the bases. "I'm disappointed more than anything," he told reporters later in the day. "You can't help your team on the bench," McCarver sighed. "I'll do the rehab work and hope for a quick recovery."

In the current season, McCarver has put up a .261 batting average with 78 hits, 6 home runs, 26 RBIs and scored 35 times.
Saturday, August 5th, 1967: Bees Win, Shut Out Denver
Joe Horlen was stingy with runs in his latest outing against the Rams. He shut them out 2-0 on 5 hits with 8 strikeouts and 1 walk.

The Boston manager said, "Joe was very aggressive tonight. He threw everything he had with a lot of confidence."

The losing manager had praise, too. "He was throwing strikes with all his pitches and mixing it up well. Horlen has a sneaky fastball, and whatever that offspeed pitch was, it was keeping our timing off."

In 1967, Horlen has chalked up 12 wins and 8 losses in 24 starts with 84 strikeouts in 183.1 innings and a 2.85 ERA.
Tuesday, July 25th, 1967: Stottlemyre Spins Shutout Against Huns
The Baltimore Huns met their match today in Denver hurler Mel Stottlemyre. He kept them guessing the whole game and spun a 5-hit shutout.

"He just worked us over," the Baltimore skipper said. "He probably didn't even take a shower after the game. I don't think he even worked up a sweat. They could probably pitch him again tomorrow."

In the 5-0 victory Stottlemyre whiffed 3 and gave up 2 walks.

To date in 1967, Stottlemyre sports a 7-7 mark with a 4.76 ERA in 18 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .238 batting average and has 73 strikeouts in 134.1 innings.
