Sunday, July 29th, 1962: San Francisco Shut Out by Gallagher
All went well for Doug Gallagher of the Minnesota Empire Builders as he pitched his team to a 3-0 shutout victory over the San Francisco Missions, limiting them to 4 hits while ringing up 7 strikeouts and surrendering 4 walks.

In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Gallagher.

His manager described him this way: "He's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy. He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."

The San Francisco skipper said, "He doesn't give you anything twice. It's a guessing game with him and today my club was always guessing wrong."

For the year Gallagher has saved 0 games while posting an ERA of 2.02 and 46 strikeouts in 80 innings. His totals also include a 4-4 record in no relief appearances.
Thursday, July 19th, 1962: Gallagher Holds Denver Scoreless
Doug Gallagher of the Minnesota Empire Builders was firing on all cylinders against the Denver Rams. He blanked them 4-0 on 4 hits and posted 4 strikeouts and 3 walks.

In 1962 Gallagher has no saves, tossed 65 innings, fanned 37 batters and produced an ERA of 2.08. He has also been credited with 3 wins and 4 losses.
Saturday, July 7th, 1962: St. Louis No Match for Friend
Bob Friend was downright nasty in pitching a 6-0 shutout against St. Louis. His splitter was diving, his slider was breaking and the Flyers were swinging and looking bad. In the solid 4-hit shutout the Empire Builders hurler chalked up 3 strikeouts and 1 walk in a strong outing.

"As the game went on, he got stronger," his manager said. "I thought he really turned it up a notch in the eighth and ninth and probably threw his best breaking balls in those two innings. They put a lot of balls in play early in the count because he was throwing strikes."

In 20 starts this year Friend has crafted a 8-11 record and a 3.83 ERA.
