Tuesday, July 31st, 1962: Houston and St. Louis Agree to Deal
The Houston Colt .45s have finalized a deal with the St. Louis Flyers for the services of 30-year old first baseman Joe Cunningham. In exchange, the Flyers will receive 33-year old first baseman Steve Bilko.

This year Bilko is batting .223 with 3 home runs and 21 RBIs. In 92 games he has scored 19 times.

In the 1962 campaign Cunningham has hit at a .167 clip with 8 RBIs, 1 home run and 8 runs scored.
Friday, July 20th, 1962: Johnson Records Shutout Against New York
It was a long day at the plate for the New York Gothams. They never did figure out Ken Johnson and were shut out 6-0. The Houston hurler baffled them the entire game, yielding no runs and 4 hits in a very well-pitched outing. Johnson also totaled 4 strikeouts and 2 walks in the game.

This year Johnson has worked 142.2 innings with 83 strikeouts en route to a 9-6 record and 4.35 ERA.
Saturday, July 14th, 1962: Rumors Swirling in Houston; Bruton Wants Out
It is unknown at this time if there is any truth to the rumor that Houston's Bill Bruton has asked his team for a trade. Insiders indicate the center fielder may not be happy with the club management. So far, the team's owners have refused to comment.
