| Breaking News |  | Saturday, August 5th, 1967: Manning Pitches Spuds to Shutout Victory Jim Manning of the Boise Spuds was in command from start to finish in his 6-0 shutout win over the Las Vegas Gamblers. He struck out 7, walked 2 and allowed 4 hits.
"I felt strong the entire game," Manning said. "I felt like I had my good stuff. It was just one of those games when everything was working."

Well, good pitching also beats bad batting.
In his postgame interview the Louisville manager said, "Jeff James made us look real bad today. He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
James had 7 strikeouts, 1 walk and allowed only 2 hits as the Boise Spuds whitewashed the Louisville Cardinals 8-0.

Hepler fanned 5 as well.
"I didn't really feel like I had my game today," Hepler confessed, "but some days are like that -- you just gotta go with what you have."
