Wednesday, August 2nd, 1967: Jeff James Blanks Louisville
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.

Well, good pitching also beats bad batting.

In his postgame interview the Louisville manager said, "Jeff James made us look real bad today. He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."

James had 7 strikeouts, 1 walk and allowed only 2 hits as the Boise Spuds whitewashed the Louisville Cardinals 8-0.

On his 1967 stats sheet James shows a 3-2 record, 7 starts, 74.1 innings, 48 strikeouts and a 4.48 ERA.
Thursday, July 6th, 1967: Hepler Pitches Boise to Shutout Victory
Boise's Bill Hepler breezed through the Eagles lineup today, collecting a 4-hit shutout and a 1-0 victory along the way. Hepler fanned 5 as well.

"I didn't really feel like I had my game today," Hepler confessed, "but some days are like that -- you just gotta go with what you have."

This year Hepler has posted a 2-7 mark in 12 starts and has a 3.46 ERA.
