Sunday, July 8th, 1962: Toledo Pitcher Awesome in Shutout
Toledo starter Whammy Douglas really did a number on the Churners today, shutting them out 1-0 on 4 hits in a complete game victory. He issued 1 walk and had 3 strikeouts.

In his postgame comments, the Milwaukee manager said, "We didn't have good at-bats. I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting... seeing as our team has a bunch of pretty good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Whammy... he did an outstanding job today."

This season to date Douglas has a record of 6 wins and 9 losses with a 3.13 ERA, has appeared in 17 games and struck out 72 in 132.1 innings.
Monday, July 2nd, 1962: Kostro Earns ALAAA Player of the Week
The ML Triple A has selected Frank Kostro of the Milwaukee Churners as Player of the Week.

He hit .524 (11-21) this past week collecting 4 RBIs, scored 7 runs and 1 home run.

This season Kostro has delivered 48 hits in 141 at-bats for a .340 average with 4 home runs. He is getting on base at a .424 clip and his totals also include 19 RBIs and 30 runs scored. This year Kostro has played in 38 games.
Sunday, June 3rd, 1962: Shamsky Cracks 5 Hits
Art Shamsky put on a hitting clinic today as the Gigantes dumped the Churners 17-7 at Parque de Mexico. The Ciudad de Mexico left fielder sprayed hits all over the ballpark by lashing Milwaukee pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game.

He told SION reporters after the game, that he just hit it where they pitched it. "Too often I try to pull the ball too much. Today I just went with the pitch."

A. Shamsky singled in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off B. Spanswick in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and hit a GRAND SLAM off K. Mackenzie in the 9th.

In 1962 Shamsky has put up a .277 batting average with 48 hits, 5 home runs and 23 RBIs.
