Friday, August 18th, 1967: Chicago's Johnson Demanding Trade?
It is unknown at this time if there is any truth to the rumor that Chicago's Ken Johnson has asked his team for a trade. Insiders indicate the starting pitcher may not be happy with the club management. So far, the team's owners have refused to comment.
Tuesday, July 25th, 1967: 5-Hit Game for Parker!
Players get multi-hit games all the time. But a 5-hit game only comes around once in a blue moon. It happened at The Bee Hive when Wes Parker of Boston scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the Chicago Orphans.

He was down and a little subdued with mixed feelings in the postgame interview. "It was a good day for me, but not a good day for the Bees. The bottom line in baseball is to win. We didn't do it today," he told the press after the game.

He walloped 5 hits in 5 at-bats in his career day performance, but it was the Orphans, who won the ballgame 6-5.

However, the first baseman of the Bees did have this to say: "My swing was really, really there today. I made some good, solid contact and when that happens...good things happen. Sure, 5-5 and losing is better than going 0-5 and losing. I'll take 2-4 and a win and be overjoyed. I ain't greedy."

W. Parker singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

Presently Parker is batting .263 with 93 hits and 6 home runs. He has knocked in 38 runs and scored 47 times.
Tuesday, July 4th, 1967: Missions Blank Chicago, Cloninger Winner
Tony Cloninger was in command in his outing against the Chicago Orphans. He hurled the San Francisco Missions to a 15-0 shutout victory, yielded 3 hits and chalked up 7 strikeouts and 4 walks.

"A complete game shutout. That's fun territory for me," he told reporters in the postgame interview. "I had good balance and mechanics and was able to keep the ball down. When I do that, good things happen."

Cloninger has gone 4-7 this season with an ERA of 3.80 and 48 strikeouts in 97 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .235 against him.
