Thursday, September 24th, 1964: Osteen Strong Arms Chicago
Claude Osteen of the Cleveland Stevedores put the clamps on the opposition and held the Chicago Orphans scoreless in a 6-hit whitewash.

"He's got some good stuff, but we should have done better than that," said the Chicago skipper after the 2-0 loss.

Osteen was on target most of the game and finished with 7 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Osteen in 1964 has fashioned a 13-14 mark, 3.57 ERA and thrown 229.2 innings in 30 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .242 against him.
Saturday, September 5th, 1964: Chicago's Face Demanding Trade?
It is unknown at this time if there is any truth to the rumor that Chicago's Roy Face has asked his team for a trade. Insiders indicate the reliever may not be happy with the club management. So far, the team's owners have refused to comment.
Tuesday, September 1st, 1964: Maloney Holds Chicago Scoreless
Jim Maloney of the Baltimore Huns shut out the Chicago Orphans 4-0, held them to 2 hits with 3 walks and 9 strikeouts. Maloney said, "I could throw any pitch on any count."

The Chicago skipper called his game a jewel, saying, "The way he was pitching, it would have been tough for anyone to beat him."

In 26 starts this season Maloney has chalked up a 11-11 record and a 3.68 ERA.
