| Breaking News |  | Tuesday, November 14th, 1961: Keystones-Orphans Swap: McDaniel for Hardin
The rumor has been going on for a while now, but today it was made official. The Philadelphia Keystones sent 22-year old starting pitcher Von McDaniel to the Chicago Orphans for 18-year old minor league starting pitcher Jim Hardin.
Officials from both teams seem to be pleased with the deal.
Over his career the 22-year-old McDaniel has won 15 and lost 20, collecting 103 strikeouts and 77 walks in 292 innings with a 4.28 ERA. Opponents have hit .283 against him.

It's a major deal that has everyone talking. The Houston Colt .45s and Chicago Orphans have reached an agreement. The Colt .45s will swap 29-year old shortstop Eddie Bressoud and 26-year old minor league reliever Bob Blaylock for 30-year old shortstop Ernie Banks.
"It's a huge shakeup," noted one pundit, "You don't see deals like this every day. A lot had to go right for this to happen."
For his career Blaylock has held opponents to a .275 batting average and put up a 5.05 ERA. He has saved 0 games and owns a 7-11 record.
For his career Banks has hit at a .263 clip. Among his lifetime numbers are 540 hits, 87 doubles, 12 triples, 79 home runs and 260 RBIs.
