Thursday, August 17th, 1967: May 5-6 for Las Vegas
"It was almost like batting practice. I saw the ball very well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted." That's what Las Vegas first baseman Lee May said to SION reporters after his fantastic 5-6 day against the Frederick Orioles at Highrollers Field. "I got some good counts and used the whole field."

The Gamblers had a good day, too, and won the ballgame 12-2.

L. May grounded out in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off J. Matlack in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a GRAND SLAM off J. Unknown in the 9th.

May is hitting .287 in 1967 with 7 home runs, 53 RBIs and 51 runs scored. He has 97 hits in 338 at-bats and played in 81 games.
Saturday, August 5th, 1967: Manning Pitches Spuds to Shutout Victory
Jim Manning of the Boise Spuds was in command from start to finish in his 6-0 shutout win over the Las Vegas Gamblers. He struck out 7, walked 2 and allowed 4 hits.

"I felt strong the entire game," Manning said. "I felt like I had my good stuff. It was just one of those games when everything was working."

In 20 starts this season Manning has rung up a 8-8 record and a 4.64 ERA.
