Saturday, August 12th, 1967: Nagashima Extends Deal with Cleveland
At a midafternoon press conference, Cleveland Stevedores officials flanked Shigeo Nagashima and announced they had reached an extension with the 32-year-old third baseman.

Terms include a $3,993,996 salary distributed over 4 years.

This season Nagashima is hitting at a .259 pace with 15 home runs, 55 RBIs and has scored 70 times.
Thursday, August 3rd, 1967: Cleveland's Koufax Shines, Shuts Out St. Louis
Sandy Koufax of the Cleveland Stevedores shut out the St. Louis Flyers 3-0, held them to 2 hits with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Koufax said, "I could throw any pitch on any count."

The St. Louis skipper called his game a jewel, saying, "The way he was pitching, it would have been tough for anyone to beat him."

In 21 starts this year Koufax has recorded a 10-7 record and a 2.82 ERA.
Tuesday, August 1st, 1967: Cardwell Collects AL Pitching Award
Don Cardwell certainly found a groove in July. The Cleveland starter posted 5 wins last month to easily claim the Antiquity League Pitcher of the Month.

During the month Cardwell was 5-0 with a 3.19 ERA. He made 6 starts, tossed 48 innings and had 35 strikeouts.
