Next time the Dukes might think twice about pitching to Larry Haney. Today at Guerillas Ballpark the Peoria catcher really burned Poughkeepsie pitching, going 5-for-5 in the Rivermen 11-9 triumph.
"When he's seeing the ball well," his skipper told reporters, "he can probably stroke a base hit blindfolded."
So far this year Haney is batting .304 with 4 home runs, 23 RBIs and 31 runs scored.

| Monday, May 14th, 1962: Great Week for Peoria's Larry Haney
Larry Haney of the Peoria Rivermen cruised to ML Single A Player of the Week honors after putting together one of the finest stretches in his career last week.
The catcher batted .481 (13-27) with 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 5 runs scored.
Haney is batting .330 with 3 home runs and 11 RBIs this season.

| Saturday, May 12th, 1962: 5 Hits for Rivermen Haney
If the Poughkeepsie Dukes know how best to pitch the Peoria catcher Larry Haney they didn't tip their hand today. Instead Haney showed he knew how best to hit them as he easily handled Dukes pitching, going 5 for 5 and helping the Rivermen to a 16-5 triumph at Guerillas Ballpark.
He told SION reporters in the postgame interview, "The way I was swinging today, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball."
The Poughkeepsie skipper quipped, "Well, the next time we may just do that...blindfold him...and then pitch him differently, just to be sure."
L. Haney hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off J. Unknown in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off J. Shellenback in the 6th and walked in the 8th.
In 1962 Haney is batting .327 with 35 hits, 3 home runs, 11 RBIs, 6 walks, .395 OBP and has scored 19 runs. He has played in 26 games.
