Monday, August 7th, 1967: Torre Wins AL Player of the Week
The votes have been cast and counted and the winner of the Antiquity League Player of the Week has been chosen. It was presented earlier today to Joe Torre for his red-hot week of hitting.

The Los Angeles catcher took home the trophy by splurging with 10 hits in 25 at-bats for a .400 batting average, driving in 11 runs and scoring 7 times.

This year Torre has hit 27 home runs and posted a .281 batting average.
Sunday, August 6th, 1967: Baltimore Whitewashes Los Angeles, Hands Winner
Bill Hands dominated the day, pitching shutout ball against the Bums and holding them to 3 hits. He fanned 5 and walked 2 in spinning his 3-0 win.

"I can't take all the credit for this one," Hands said. "I had some great defense behind me."

This season-to-date Hands has 7 wins and 8 losses and a 3.40 ERA.
Tuesday, August 1st, 1967: Cepeda Takes Best Bat Trophy in July
His solid numbers speak for themselves. That's why Orlando Cepeda of the Los Angeles Bums was named the Antiquity League's best batter in July.

The Los Angeles first baseman starred with a .398 batting average, 10 home runs and 22 RBIs.

Thus far in 1967 Cepeda is batting .291 with 23 home runs, 54 RBIs and 58 runs scored.
